NATURAL FIRE DISASTERS
FOREST FIRE

A
forest fire is an uncontrolled fire occurring in nature. Sometimes,
the forest fire is so large that
it takes a long time for the fire-
fighting crews to gain control over the situation. This could result in massive
destruction. In Norway, an average of about 1100 forest fires occurs each year.
CAUSE
They
are caused due to sun burn on trees.
PREVENTION:
·
Decreasing
the temperature of the earth through aforestation
·
Do not
light grass fires or burn debris anywhere near the
forest
·
Ensure
that whatever you burn in or around the forest is completely put out, before
you leave
VOLCANIC ERUPTION

A
volcanic eruption occurs when
molten rock, ash and steam pour through a vent in the earth's crust. Volcanoes are described as active (in eruption), dormant (not erupting at the present time), or
extinct (having ceased eruption;
no longer active).
CAUSE
Magma
rises through cracks or weaknesses in the Earth's crust. When this pressure is
released as a result of plate movement, magma explodes to the surface causing a volcanic eruption. The lava from the eruption cools to form new crust. Over time, after several eruptions, the rock builds up and a volcano forms.
PRECAUTIONS:
- Build
an Emergency Supply Kit, which includes items like non-perishable food,
water, a battery-powered or hand-crank radio, extra flashlights and
batteries. You may want to prepare a portable kit and keep it in your car
in case you are told to evacuate. ...
- Make a
Family Emergency Plan.
THUNDERBOLT

Thunderbolt is a
storm with thunder and lightning and typically also heavy rain or hail. As a
result, trees, huts and electrical appliances catch fire.
CAUSE:
The
basic ingredients used to make a thunderstorm
are moisture, unstable air and lift. You need unstable air that is relatively
warm and can rise rapidly.
PREVENTION:
We can prevent this only by
turning off the electrical appliances.
FIRENADO

Firenado, or fire twister, or in Japan, the
dragon twist, is a whirlwind induced by a fire and often made up of
flame or
ash.
CAUSE:
Fire whirls may occur when
intense rising heat and turbulent wind conditions combine to form whirling
eddies of air.
PRECAUTION:
We can only move away from
the area where it is formed.
