Lesson 3

3.1 Work Breakdown, Products and Milestones:
            List the project task and, if possible at this stage include the sub-tasks. For each task add the product that will be created and indicate it will be a milestone.

3.7 Reviews and checkpoints:

A 30 minute class meeting every week to discuss the progress of the tasks taken up and problems encountered by them during the same.
A 5-minute meeting with each group separately as and when required.

3.8 Assessment plan:
            Describe the balanced assessment plan for the project. List products that will be assessed during the project. List rubrics that need to be created before project launch.

Opportunities for authentic assessment will include: the surveys and results
Formative assessment will primarily focus on the artifacts created by the students during the project. Special attention will be paid to survey prototypes, learning journals and presentation outlines.
Summative assessments will be performed on the survey results, presentations on the importance of sustainable management of natural resources.
Rubrics prepared: Rubrics will be prepared to assess the questionnaire prepared for the interview/ the survey questions, analysis of data collected using various tools , content and presentation of the peer- talk.

2.1 Essential Question:
Put in writing the question that will engage the students 
Food insecurity is a great challenge not only in India but across the world are you aware of this fact ?
Inspite this there is a lot of food waste in social gatherings and community get togethrs Are you aware of this

2.2 Grouping Strategy:
Describe the criteria that will be used to form students’ team and how this maps to the goals of the project.
This project is aimed to create awareness about wasting of food in social gatherings. The class is devided into groups according to their place of residence so as to carry out the survey Total of six teams are formed with seven members each
2.3 Learning Environment:
Describe the learning environment for the project including any classroom adaptation that will be required.
The team memers will meet every day ,have a brief discussion on their previous days work exchange note and plan for the next day
2.4 Assessment Approach:

 2.4.A Authentic Assessment:
Authentic do- able tasks that will be carried out by the team will include-
1. They will check each others lunch box so as to practice the principle of zero waste before the preach .
2. “They will speak  in the class regarding the good practices followed at home .
3. Questionnaire to be filled by a sample population in the locality regarding wasting of food items in social gatherings
4. Slogans posters and visuals will be prepared by the students to display in community centers.

Regular feedback and guidance as and when required will be provide to the students as they work with the various tools of the project –

Assessment will be conducted based on –

  • What are students intended to learn from the project?
The project is designed keeping in mind a topic relevant to the age group that class IX is comprised of. The following are the topics planned to be dealt with-
1. Meaning of food security .
2. Why food security
3. Who are food insecure .
4. Wasting of food in get togthers and community eating
Based on the information given in the text and with their previous knowledge the student will engage themselves in a groupdiscussion

Describe the scope of your project. This may include class and section, subjects it covers, self shills to be used etc. as well as other factors affecting scope.
Students of class IX  will form the project team.
Subjects involved: Science, English, Mathematics.
Student activities  will  be monitored and guided so that the work progresses in the right direction.
