Delhi's National Museum of Natural History Destroyed In Massive Fire


A massive fire overnight on April 26, 2016 has completely destroyed the iconic National Museum of Natural History in Delhi, destroying rare specimen of flora and fauna. Fire broke out around 1.45 am and completely gutted the museum. 35 fire fighters battled the flames for hours; seven were taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation; two were reported in critical condition.

Kerala Temple Fire Tragedy


The death of at least 102 people as a result of a major fire that took place at Puttingal temple at Paravur in Kollam district of Kerala has sent shock waves throughout the country. The accident, that took place early on April 10, was reported to have been caused as a result of a stray cracker accidentally falling into a fireworks stockpile towards the fag end of the fireworks display. 

Twenty shops destroyed in Karnataka Market Fire

About 20 shops were destroyed in a fire in the century-old Devaraja Market, Karnataka on March 4, 2012. Firemen who rushed to the spot doused in flames in half an hour. The fire spread from one shop to another immediately as wooden boxes and gunny bags were kept inside for carrying vegetables got fire. An electric short circuit is the cause of the fire.

2016 Fort McMurray Wildfire

On May 1, 2016, a wildfire began in the southwest of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. It destroyed approximately 2,400 homes and buildings and forcing the largest wildfire evacuation in the Albertan history. It continued to spread across northern Alberta and to Saskatchewan, consuming forested areas and impacting Athabasca oil sands. The fire spread across 5, 90,000 hectares. It is the costliest disaster in Canada.
